NARS Blush in Exhibit A

Hi All!

Today I'm blogging about a particularly wild but surprisingly wearable shade of one of my favorite products, NARS blush. Exhibit A is a vibrant, matte orange red blush. I've impressed with all of NARS' blushes; they are incredibly pigmented, and can be applied very sheer to make them more natural and subtle, or heavily to make them more of a focus. I also appreciate that NARS includes a range of colors in both shimmers/ glitters and mattes in their blush line, branching out from the normal bronzer-pink-coral fare. According to their website, these blushes are formulated with "transparent" particles to keep them from looking heavy; whatever they're doing, it works; these blend on the skin very easily, never look powdery, and stay put all day. They retail at $27 for .16 ounces, and come housed in a sturdy matte, rubberized black compact with a sturdy mirror. Like all of NARS' products packaged in this material, these blushes gets messy looking rather quickly, but they are functional, good quality, and easy to open without coming open on their own.

Here are some photos! These next few are of the packaging and product themselves.

And here's a swatch! Good light, but no flash.

Heavy on the left, blended out on the right.
And here is the blush on my cheeks! I like applying this under the cheekbone further back on my face, keeping it away from the apples of my cheeks; otherwise it ends up looking too doll-like!

I couldn't be happier with a red blush! NARS blush formula is absolutely a dream to work with, and I love that I can use this for very dramatic looks, or softly for every-day. I also like that this is an orange-red with no shimmer, which makes it a little more sophisticated, a little less "Raggedy Ann." If you've been looking for a red blush that is wearable, definitely give this a shot. Even on my pale skin, this is really easy to wear when I use a very light hand, but it is so pigmented it would work on a variety of skin tones.

  1. It looks really bright in the compact, but on the cheeks it looks like a nice everyday color :)

  2. Great post! I love NARS blush (how can you not?) and I had been eyeballing this one but thought it would be way too dark for me. After seeing it on your skin, I may have to go for it, it looks great on light skin! Also, nice to see that there are some other Star Trek/cat lovers out there!

  3. It actually gets nerdier than the Star Trek/ Cat thing... I do a lot of historical and fantasy costuming, and wore this as part of my makeup (with the Adora eye palette!) to a Vampire Ball in a bustled Victorian... Heavy handed, this blush looks striking and dramatic (I recommend using bronzer to contour if you wear it that way!), but you can definitely wear it lightly as an everyday color! You Ladies should check it out if you get the chance!
